  7.     Don't look now, but isn't this decade starting to be a rerun
  8. of the 1970s? One of its swooned-over sensations was a
  9. sweet-faced singer on TV's The Partridge Family, and, well,
  10. David Cassidy is back. Fit at 40, he has a new album -- his
  11. first in the U.S. since 1978 -- due in October and a film,
  12. Spirit of '76, opening the same month. "The lifespan of a teen
  13. idol is about 18 months, then you're gone and forgotten," says
  14. Cassidy. When he thinks about today's heartthrobs, he gets a
  15. pang. Says he: "I know what's in store for the New Kids on the
  16. Block."
